The air is warm and humid, and the grass is starting to grow. It’s springtime in Missouri! But as most of us turn our minds toward lawn care, now is the time to make sure our equipment is prepared for the mowing season! Below is our lawn care equipment maintenance checklist for the season.

Lawnmowers

  • Check your battery. Clean the terminals and ensure they are free from corrosion. Charge or replace if necessary.
  • Check your oil. Fill to the manufacturer’s prescribed level. 
  • Check your tire pressure. Make sure your tires are properly mounted on the wheel and inflate to the appropriate PSI as indicated on the tire.
  • Examine your spark plug(s) and clean away any build-up. Replace if necessary. 
  • Verify that your blades are sharp.
  • Make sure your air filter is unobstructed. Change if necessary.
  • Ensure that you have unobstructed fuel flow through your mower’s carburetor.

Weed Eaters

  • Check your oil. Fill to the manufacturer’s prescribed level.
  • Examine your spark plug(s) and clean away any build-up. Replace if necessary.
  • Ensure that you have unobstructed fuel flow through your grass trimmer’s carburetor.
  • Replace weed eater string if it’s worn out or too short.

Leaf Blowers

  • Examine your spark plug(s) and clean away any build-up. Replace if necessary.
  • Ensure that you have unobstructed fuel flow through your grass trimmer’s carburetor.
